Account & Data Deletion

At Denk, you have complete control over your personal data. You can delete your account and all associated personal records at any time. We provide two methods: instant in-app deletion (recommended) and a public web deletion request form if you no longer have access to the app.

Option 1: Instant In-App Deletion (Recommended)

If you have the Denk application installed on your device, you can delete your account immediately without waiting for manual processing:

  1. Open the Denk app on your device.
  2. Tap the Settings icon on the bottom navigation bar.
  3. Scroll to the Privacy & Data section.
  4. Tap Delete Account.
  5. If you own groups with active members, assign ownership to another member when prompted.
  6. Tap Confirm. Your account, personal records, and credentials are permanently purged immediately.

Option 2: Web Deletion Request Form

If you have uninstalled Denk, lost your device, or cannot access the app, submit an account deletion request using the form below. Verified requests are processed within 30 days pursuant to store guidelines.

Data Handling Transparency

Exact audit of what happens to each category of data upon account deletion:

Data Category Action on Deletion Policy & Justification
users/{uid} Permanently Deleted User document, display name, and preferences are permanently erased.
user_groups, join_requests Permanently Deleted All personal indexing subcollections are wiped from Cloud Firestore.
Firebase Auth Credentials Permanently Deleted Anonymous or linked Google/Apple auth token is revoked and destroyed.
Sole-Owned Groups Permanently Deleted Groups where you are the sole member are purged with all expenses.
Shared Group Memberships Anonymized Display name is replaced with "Deleted User"; exit date recorded.
Shared Expense Ledger Amounts Preserved Financial split calculations are preserved so peer balances remain accurate.
